On Wednesday February 28th, at approximately 9:00 am, Scottsbluff Fire responded to a call of a roof collapse at 1824 Broadway. Initial reports were that approximately 10 construction workers were inside working on plumbing and HVAC systems at the time of the collapse. 4 workers were trapped in the building until the fire department was able to free them. 1 person was transported to Regional West via ambulance to be treated for minor injuries. There are some visible cracks on the north wall of the building, and construction workers are shoring up that wall at this time. At this moment, the city engineer is not concerned with these cracks compromising the integrity of the wall. The investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause of the collapse. Scottsbluff Fire asks the public to stay clear of the area, until a time where the building can be declared “safe”.
